PROLOGUE: Little Catherine is quiety secreted away from her beautiful home in a beautiful city where all was spoiling and peaceful. She rides undercover with Angus, her loving and doting father, in a Civil War ambulance away from the growing storm about to smash the elegant little East coast city that has been her life. She learns along the way about the truer version of life in the south, as her father tries to educate her well enough during their journey to enable her to adjust to a completely new world, a plantation in the middle of nowhere in the middle of a land called Mississippi. A place where worlds meet and cross. A place where people of many colors seem to have been pushed in a stampede to get away from hurt and harm to places yet unknown.
She carries with her in a secret pocket a deck of very special cards given to her by her mama'
who went to heaven, but speaks to her little petite in the dark and lonely hours of the night. And added to her Tarot knowledge comes the additional Astrology and Numerology from her new friends from old Europe.
Butter Bean is her nickname, lovingly given by all his servants and protected non-slaves on a beautiful but somewhat hidden Mississippi plantantion during the Civil War. Angus, her widowed father, seems to be a diplomat but for whom? Little ten-year old, strawberry blond, Butter Bean is without worry because all those around her are protecting and protected. However - not without adventure, charm and mystical guidance given by her father's chosen guardians from old central Europe with all things astrological, numerological and of course the game of Tarot. Rich indeed with its own ancient culture and stories effortlessly transported through the wind to Butter Bean's new front door.
