In his book we are reminded of our power and how the key to moving mountains lies within us. It's getting the key of intent out of our internal bunkers and using it to become agents for change that this story helps us understand how to do. John's characters seem so real, you will want to travel to Arizona to meet them. “Jack”, one of the story's Shamans says to his mentee, “Scott”: "It's not the earth I am concerned about. She will save herself. Will she hit the reset button on the human race? Now that's the question."

If I were to write a book like this, I would want it to have the same power to bring the readers into the Keter consciousness of the present moment awareness; knowing we are all one and in harmony, to feel Love. Even though this sounds like a mighty big thing to accomplish and an awesome task, it is shown that it can be done through intent and in a heart beat. Words, thoughts and feelings can make it so.  As we learn from  teaching stories like this one written by a true Shaman.

"The Shift..." has turned on a bright porch light to welcome us all into our own possibilities of intending dreams and goals, with complete clarity and passion. With this light we can see that the only way to be alive again is to be aware and grateful of each moment and the miracles that accompany them. We learn through the different characters, from different religions and beliefs that we can become unified and not fearful of the future. This is a joyful story to read with a golden message tucked within it.

John’s message tackles some very big, very current problems our country and planet are facing. America has become dependent on foreign oil and fossil fuels and there doesn't seem to be a unified resolution in site. This continues to dictate our foreign policy. He quotes our current tax code consisting of nine hundred eighty-two thousand words of tax law. It's probably more by now. And our political system is rife with avarice and competition paid for by soft money. Within this context, he weaves a teaching story that we can, with enlightened thought, have the power to shift the economy to support earth and spirit-friendly practices.

A character known as Father Morales takes two non-Christian people from different parts of the world under wing. He quotes from the Bible, the sixth chapter of Matthew, about praying in secret. Then he goes to the book of Luke, twenty-first chapter, which tells the story of the rich putting their gifts into the treasury. And how the poor widow puts in two copper coins and that out of her poverty she put into the treasury all the living that she had. Father Morales asks these two people to consider the meaning of these scriptures and works within these two Biblical stories to teach how important intent is. These non-Christians hadn't read the Bible, but when they heard the words their hearts knew they were true.

This light-filled story about sacrifice of ego and a balance between the feminine and masculine energies, helps us understand the importance of service to community and dreaming a better future for our children's children. It is about all possibilities through intent and Love.
