THE 100TH HUMAN, By Chris Fenwick ISBN: 0976092557

“the 100th human” , written by Ms. Chris Fenwick, is a mystically-driven scavenger hunt for eight keys and gatekeepers who give the seekers extraordinary wisdom from the ancients that will bring Earth into unity, known as the “Unified Field”. The main characters, Jack, Apu and Alana navigate Goliath challenges set before them from an ancient Mexican cave glyph representing the Mayan calendar’s prediction of end of days on December 21, 2012.
The author, Chris Fenwick, provides us with colorful and resonant historical references and vibrant characters to go with them. She inserts all kinds of purposeful and thought-provoking lessons through her characters, making them come alive and walk to center stage as they teach what they know. One sage illuminates by example how to meditate to release the past that can be so destructive to us, and go into our inner “gap” to find strength and knowing.
She quotes an ancient philosopher, Pantajali; “When you are inspired by some great purpose, some extraordinary project, all your thoughts break their bonds: your mind transcends limitations, your consciousness expands in every direction, and you find yourself in a new, great and wonderful world. Dormant forces, facilities and talents become alive and you discover yourself to be a greater person by far than you ever dreamed yourself to be.”
Chris manages to weave a thrilling and mind-snapping story around, through, in and out of mind bending experiences and truths. Turmoil, tension, riddles, and complications of the day add to the race against time to find the eight keys that will bring the earth into unity, to the “Unified Field”. The two powers of good and evil converge and release, and only the spirits of the ancients know the outcome. The characters learn to follow the God that guides them through serendipitous and synchronistic circumstances.
Her characters never leave the reader behind during their journey from site to site, beginning at the Mayan ruins in Mexico. They travel to San Diego, then the caves of the Essalen Indians who lived in the upper Carmel Valley where the Esalen Institute now resides, and on to the great library of Salt Lake City. They finally arrive in Colorado, where Jack, Apu and Alana have learned to hold tightly to their new way of thinking - no longer out of their logical left brains, but from their intuitive right through all sorts of dramatic chases and attacks.
It is this hard-earned process of new thinking which brings them to their connection beyond space and time in order for them to assist in revealing the mystery of the ancient Mayan symbols, before time literally runs out. As they meet up with the gatekeepers, who would otherwise seem like just another person in a library or resort, truths or keys are explained to them. The author gifts the reader with sobering reminders that are applicable in our own personal journeys today. She writes, “We like to think we are free thinkers, making our own decisions, but we are thoroughly influenced by our society, the news, our governmental leaders, our social expectations and our commercialism. These influences color our choices. They dictate what we think about, what we want and what we strive for. We are told what to feel, what is in vogue or popular. We are told what to fear, what to reject, how and who to hate. Then we deny this influence and believe ourselves free thinkers.”
Jack, Apu, Alana and YOU, the reader of “the 100th human” – while being thoroughly entertained - are transformed if willing, into Shamans and become connected to the power that lies within to determine and fulfill our personal destinies. Chris writes, “A destiny always involves service to your tribe, village or fellow man (or woman). This is not an insignificant fact. Taking on the life of a shaman as your destiny cannot be decided upon lightly. Each person’s purpose will always have a component of service involved.”
